Modest Mussorgsky was a Russian composer who was associated with The Five or The Mighty Handful (which included Mily Balakirev, César Cui, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, and Alexander Borodin). His compositions are in a decidedly Romantic idiom and frequently inspired by Russian cultural themes.
