An Austrian who died at the age of 31, Franz Peter Schubert was a composer of the early Romantic era. A prolific writer whose works spanned lieder, symphonies, operas, sacred works, and chamber music, Schubert was also known for his extensive contributions to the literature for solo and four-hand piano.
Many of Schubert’s vocal works have been transcribed for piano by
Franz Liszt.
