In October 2020, German keyboard artist Tobias Schmitz (also known as EINS) performed a uniquely modern, socially distant musical happening centered around the connectivity of the Disklavier. A Couple of Disco Artists Notice a Disklavier Hiding In the Corner...
Back in the beforetimes, Disco / Dubstep artists Jas Shaw and Bas Grossfeldt were working on an collaboration in a Cologne, Germany studio, when they noticed a Disklavier hiding in the corner. Shaw whipped up a Max/MSP patch to control the instrument, and Grossfeldt did some creative damping with the strings to produce interesting, etherial sonoroties. Available on the Drone label, the resulting album is a chilled cocktail of ambience simply called Klavier, with track names minimalistically named only by dynamic markings. Shaw is best known as a founding member of Simian Mobile Disco, and he released his first solo album last year. Grossfeldt, meanwhile, is known for contemporary art under his real name, Søren Siebel. As Bas Grossfeldt, he has an EP forthcoming on Juan Atkins' Metroplex label.

Freiburg University Taps Disklavier for Covid-Era Entrance Exams
Freiburg University of Music is a prestigious international music college, which has trained students from countries and regions all over the world and has produced many renowned musicians since its opening in 1946. Prospective students come from all over the world to take the University’s entrance examinations, which are held in June every year and include a practical performance component; however, this year, due to the novel coronavirus outbreak, examinees from other countries faced significant difficulties taking the test locally in Freiburg. To solve this problem, the University introduced remote entrance exams for the first time ever, utilizing the musical instruments and technologies provided by Yamaha to enable practical performance tests of piano playing from remote locations. Yamaha Wins Regional Emmy Awards

Congratulations to our colleagues at Yamaha Entertainment Group, who won four Midsouth Regional Emmy® Awards for the short film “World Without Music” in February 2020.The Tennessee-based record label earned victories in the “Director, Short Form,” “Audio,” “Photographer,” and “Editor/Program” categories. In addition, “World Without Music” received nominations in the “Arts,” “Music Composer/Arranger,” “Lighting,” and “Commercial Campaign” categories in November 2019.“World Without Music” is a visually stunning and emotionally powerful film that highlights the company’s brand promise, “Make Waves.” Yamaha Chief Artist Relations Executive Chris Gero, called the awards "humbling." Yamaha Entertainment Group has won 11 Regional Emmy Awards since 2016.
